“eEurope Awards in eHealth 2003”
In May 2003, in Brussels, the European Commission organised a ministerial conference, open to operators in the sector, on the contribution of ICT to Health (www.e-europeawards.org). At the end of the conference, the best initiatives that have shown to:
- realise economic benefits and improve access to and quality of care;
- propose the transferability of the project on the European territory.
Among the 180 initiatives presented, 30 were chosen to partecipate in the final selection in Brussels in front of an audience of 33 ministers and decision-makers in the sector.
The Boario Home Care Project of HTN (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14650821) was the only Italian project to receive the honorable mention and the only European to be awarded for the Telemedicine and Home Care section.

The Association of American Telemedicine Providers (www.atsp.org) ranked HTN at second place at the international conference held in September 2003 and organized annually.
“eHealth Conference 2006”
n May 2006, the British ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), on behalf of the European Commission, published the results of a study, the Boario Home Care Project by HTN, predictive on the effects of the use of telemedicine in the Lombardy Region, presented at the Malaga conference (www.ehealthconference2006.org), as part of the “Good Practices for Developing a Country’s eHealth Action Plan”.
The validated scientific results were the basis of the analysis carried out, which showed, with a time horizon that reaches 2012, the growing advantages for the population, as the use of telemedicine systems increases.
